Taking Extra Measures

After years of going in and out of the hospital because of her Asthma, Carrie was finally able to spend a whole year in the comforts of her own home. This was the first time in her seventeen years that she hasn’t been hospitalized for even a day or two due to her extreme allergic reaction to dust, fur, and smoke. All her life, she felt like she’s been missing out on a lot of things; the smoke from Fourth of July celebrations and fireworks during New Year’s Eve can trigger a severe case of coughing fits and difficulty in breathing, hence she always avoided such celebrations. Even getting a furry pet such as a cute little puppy is a threat to her health.

She always has to be extra careful and has to have her inhaler ready wherever she goes. Today, her parents bought her a home hepa filter which helps clean the air at home, letting her breathe easily. Carrie knows she’ll never be able to live a carefree life, but with the help of her friends and family, she’s sure she’ll live a happy life.
